Happy new year!

After a really busy festive period, the Egham Band wanted to wish all their followers a very happy new year! Christmas 2014 saw the Egham Band play at both the Windsor Lantern and Reindeer parades, three Christmas Concerts, one festive march and one caroling session on Egham High Street, and not forgetting the band Christmas meal! We're all ready for the year ahead and we're now busy practising in readiness for the 2015 Regional Competition where we will be competing in the 1st Section with A London Overture by Philip Sparke.

Another 'spectacular' Egham Autumn concert!

In October 2014, Egham performed a 'Brass Spectacular' at the Magna Carta School to a full house! The highlight of the night was our first ever 'novelty performance' of The Florentiner March (see picture below). We were also delighted to welcome the Deputy Mayor as well as the District Commissioner for the Runnymede Scouts.

2014 London and Southern Counties Brass Band Regional Competition

This year's Championship test piece was "St Magnus" by Kenneth Downie, quite possibly the most difficult piece of music the Egham Band has ever had to play. After three months of hard work and dedication by the band, we delivered our performance of the test piece on the contest stage doing the best we could. Our Principal Cornet and Euphonium players gave sterling solo performances which was recognized by the the two adjudicators. However on the day, we could only secure 12th place. Despite this being last place in the competition, we were still proud of the effort that we collectively put in as a band and are proud of the performance we delivered on the day!
